Top 3 Ways to Stop Emotional Eating

Seattle Healing Hypnosis on Emotional EatingDeveloping healthy eating habits can be challenging when you’re using food for something other than nourishment. Food is numbing. It can help us escape the negative emotions we are experiencing, even if it’s just momentarily. And foods that are high in sugar, fat, and refined carbohydrates are the most tempting when we are feeling anxious or stressed.

Great news: You can set yourself up for success in reaching your health and fitness goals by putting just a few practical steps in place. I love what Positive Health Wellness says about this topic in a recent blog post. Writer Karen Reed shares eight ways to stop comfort eating late at night, offering some awesome tools to curb your appetite and make healthy choices.

Of course, another component is at play, and that’s dealing with the emotions we’re trying to avoid. Here are my top three ways to address the emotions that are causing you to overeat … and release them for good.

#1: Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is very powerful and can help you to overcome past programming. It also can help you cement the value of a healthy diet into your mind so that it becomes second nature.

In order to be successful in creating new behaviors—especially when it comes to diet and exercise—you need to reframe what food has meant to you. This means examining the associations you have made with certain foods and habits. Working with the subconscious mind can help you replace old beliefs with new positive behaviors. It also can help you connect with the reasons why you want to develop healthy eating habits. And hypnotherapy can help you build a strong desire to continue on your path of success and transforming your body into the healthiest, hottest version of you!

#2: Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that helps release energetic blocks in your body that are the result of emotional, mental, or physical trauma. When your energy flow is blocked, it can create disease in the body, leading to such unhealthy responses as overeating.

Reiki helps you be more aware of your body and its needs—and this includes your appetite. It aids with willpower, allowing you to make healthier choices. It also decreases stress, enabling you to decompress and prevent a build-up of the stress hormone cortisol, which is known to affect weight. In addition, Reiki helps you to feel better about yourself, and whether your struggle with your weight is rooted in the physical or psychological plane, Reiki can assist in weight loss and overall well-being.

#3: Life Coaching

A life coach is your own personal cheerleader, your partner in navigating the weight loss journey. Working with a coach will help you lessen the anxiety you have around the process of losing weight as well as help you identify and shift self-sabotaging behaviors. A life coach will help you examine your current mindset and actions to determine what is blocking your progress as well as help you develop powerful strategies to embrace your weight loss journey. They will help you shift your discontent or discomfort along the way into a path of soul-affirming self-discovery.
