Feeling comfortable with your practitioner is critical with any healing art. So we’ve introduced the “Meet the Practitioners Series” to give you an opportunity to get to know us. First up is Past Life Regressionist Didi Graves, who offers hypnotherapy at Seattle Healing. Learn more about Didi, what brought her to the field of hypnotherapy, and why you should try it. How long have you been practicing hypnotherapy? For about three years now. How did you get into the field? I had been reading Outrageous Openness by Tosha Silver. It’s about surrendering to the Divine, however you see that. When we are able to surrender our own wants and desires to the Divine, action arises. We don’t need to make everything happen. So one morning, I was reading The Hypnotist’s Love Story, which I randomly had borrowed from the library. I put the book down, looked up “hypnotherapy classes seattle,” found my teacher at Bastyr University, and signed up. Also, I had done hypnotherapy in the 1980s, and it had been very helpful to me. So that started me on this path. What do you love about hypnotherapy? The realm of the subconscious mind is completely fascinating to me. I think of it as a landscape, a place to which you can journey to do your inner work and discovery. I call it the imaginal mind. We use our imaginations all the time, but we have not been taught that we can go to the imaginal mind to do our deep, inner work. Who

One of the services offered at Seattle Healing is the ability to have Life Coaching Skype sessions as well as Hypnotherapy sessions via Skype. This capability is especially valuable to clients who don’t live in the area. We sat down with one Seattle Healing client, Nici, who lives in the Northeast Ohio area and has been working with Laura since September 2014. Nici has family who resides in Seattle, and she initially met with Laura on a visit to the area. But after returning home to Ohio, Nici knew that she still needed Laura’s help, and she remembered the Skype capability. That’s when everything fell into place. What brought you to Laura and Seattle Healing? My sister and her friends had visited Laura for a variety of reasons, and they all recommended her. I was very interested in talking with Laura as a Life Coach because at that time in my life, I really needed advice about my career and where my life was headed. So I met with her in person for three sessions, but about four months later, I realized that I needed to talk with her again. And since January, I’ve been Skyping with Laura regularly. How was the transition from in-person sessions to Skype sessions? I had zero transition issues at all. With Skype, it really is like talking to Laura in person because we’re having such a normal conversation. I still have that same personal interaction without needing to be in the office. I can see

by Diane Graves CHt Healing Chronic Pain Hypnosis Can Help Heal the Emotional Causes of Physical Pain. Check Out Didi’s Story… My History When I was 13 years old, I started having back problems. My back would “go out,” and I would be flat on my back with heat and/or ice packs until the episode resolved. I remember vividly the time I was told by a doctor that I would have back pain my entire life just because I am tall (I am about 5’9″). He said I would have back problems for my whole life! And guess what? I believed him. I continued to have a “bad back” up into my 50s. Throughout those years, I was told I had a ruptured disc, a slipped disc, bulging discs, and a potential for Spinal Stenosis. I didn’t know what Spinal Stenosis was, but it sounded really scary. I went to physical therapy, chiropractors, acupuncture, and the list goes on and on. Years ago, I was helping my mother with a fence project that involved a lot of squatting and bending. It was July 3rd. Several years prior, my father had passed away on the 4th of July. Sure enough, I ended up with excruciating back pain on July 4th. My friend suggested that I see her Reiki practitioner. I had never heard of Reiki, but I decided to go. As I was laying there on the table with the practitioner holding her hands on my back, a huge amount of

To the Uninspired Woman Who Is Miserable in Her Job I am thinking of you today. I used to be you. I totally feel your pain. Today is Friday, and I will be working through the weekend … and I couldn’t be happier about it. The thing is, I love my job. I absolutely adore my clients and the work we do together. But it wasn’t always this way for me. I used to fantasize about a minor car accident on my way to work each morning. Nothing too serious but something that might take me out of work for a few days. Maybe even a few weeks. Of course, I would be the only injured party and would make a full recovery. I just wanted a break from the stress and monotony. Sustaining physical injury seemed more appealing than spending the next eight to 10 hours in my dark gray cubicle. At the time, it didn’t occur to me that this type of dread might have been a strong indicator that I was moving in the wrong direction.

Reiki is an energy-healing therapy that treats the whole person, emotionally, physically and spiritually, through the transmission of energy to balance and strengthen the body’s energy centers, or Chakras, based on ancient Eastern techniques. The benefits of Reiki are many. Reiki is Japanese for “universal life force.” It is an ancient healing art. Reiki is a non-manipulative, hands on healing technique that helps to stimulate immune system function and maximize innate healing potential. The awareness that an unseen energy flows through all living things and directly affects the quality of a person’s health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. This life energy goes by many names: Qi in China, Ki in Japan, Prana in India, and science refers to it as bio-field energy. When your life energy is low, it is more difficult to deal with stress; you may not sleep well, and you’re more susceptible to illness. When your life energy is strong, you feel strong, can more easily deal with stress, and are less likely to get sick. This is a technique that increases a person’s supply of life energy. Universal life source energy is administered through the hands of a Reiki practitioner with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table. A session lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands and into the client’s body and energy field. . The Reiki practitioner places his or her hands at locations around

How would it feel to connect with that solid core feeling of peace that comes with knowing you have all the power?
