Pain Management

Stress and pain go hand in hand. When being in pain causes stress or being stressed exacerbates pain, alternative therapies like hypnosis and Reiki can help. These treatments focus on the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit.

During hypnosis, the conscious part of our minds focus on relaxation. Quieting the conscious mind induces a trance or hypnotic state that allows us to become still and highly focused. In a trance state, our minds are more open to suggestions, including reducing stress or pain.

Hypnosis also induces physiologic changes, such as a slowing of the pulse and breathing, both of which allow our bodies to enter into a state of deep relaxation. In this state, we offer our bodies a reprieve from the physical symptoms of stress and anxiety that are associated with chronic pain.

Our hypnotherapists work with you to visualize a pain-free reality and give you tools that you can use outside of the session to help manage the stress related to chronic pain.

Reiki means “universal life force energy” and is a Japanese healing method that works to increase energy flow in the body. Reiki releases energetic blocks and increases the body’s own natural healing ability to work.

Reiki focuses on seven main energy centers, also known as chakras, in your body. The goal is to facilitate a free flow of energy through the chakras to create balance and optimal health in the body. When energy flow is blocked, you might feel ill or experience physical pain.

During a Reiki session, you experience a deep state of relaxation while your practitioner works to increase energy flow in your body. This helps to reduce pain, stress, and anxiety.

Although you might still require standard medical interventions to manage chronic pain, hypnotherapy and Reiki can help you manage the stress associated with chronic pain leaving you feeling relaxed, restored, and better able to cope with your condition.
